Annapolis shop dresses movie star

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Cindi Ryland, owner of Retropolitan Fine Antiques and Vintage in Annapolis, will dress Academy Award winner Kate Winslet in 1950s attire for an upcoming movie.

Ryland’s store specializes in vintage apparel and accessories, and she was called upon to help craft the wardrobe by Winslet’s character in The Dressmaker. The movie is filming in Australia. Winslet stars as Myrtle “Tilly” Dunnage in the comedy. It is adapted from a novel by Rosalie Ham. It tells the story of a dressmaker who is trained in Paris and brings her fashion to transform those in her Australian town. It is set for release in 2015.

Retropolitan opened in 2003.
